Simon Owen
Simon Owen, Patron and long time supporter of the Games as well as a internationally renowned golfer has agreed to 'officially open the Games' on February 5. This ceremony will now also include a Maori Challenge (Wero) to be received by Garry Wilson, CEO of ACC, the principle sponsor.
Wanganui's Own Gary Anderson
Wanganui's own Gary Anderson is the latest Olympian to confirm his involvement in the event. He will be competing and presenting medals. Gary Anderson‚s place in the history of New Zealand cycling is undeniable - a competitor a four consequetive Olympic Games, he remains the only New Zealand cyclist to have won an Olympic medal.
Ben Fouhy to be a t the Games
Ben Fouhy, World Champion K1000 Canoeist and Olympic Silver Medalist in 2004, will be coming to support the event, specifically the canoeing event on Monday 7th February. Come and see him from 4pm down at the Whanganui River.
All Black Legend to compete in Golf and be Key Note Speaker
All Black legend Andy Haden (and his wife Trecha) have confirmed they will compete in the Mixed Foursomes Golf event at the Games. Andy, who was born and educated in Wanganui, plays off a 4.7 handicap. He will also give us an insight into his playing and career experiences as a Key Note Speaker on Team Aussie night, Tuesday 8th February. Make sure you're there on the night!
Olympians Confirm Attendance.
Ex-Olympians Anne Hare and Tom Bamford are the latest Olympians to confirm their participation in Athletics and Cycling respectively.
