ACC as the principal sponsor of
the ACC ThinkSafe New Zealand Masters Games, aims to
educate people on how to prevent sports injuries.
Last year over 100,000 New
Zealanders were injured taking part in sport and recreation,
costing the taxpayer over $100 million. These injuries cause
more than just physical pain. There is an emotional, financial
and social cost.
Injury prevention is the core
goal of ACC's SportSmart programme, a 10-point action plan
for coaches and participants. Sports injuries are not caused
by any single factor, so ACC SportSmart offers a generic
plan that can be applied to all sports and recreational activities – whether
it's swimming in summer, snowboarding in winter, or any activity
at the New Zealand Masters Games.
Injury prevention benefits
both the individual and the community, reducing the levies
we pay, and improving the way we play. |
