DATE: Sunday 13th February 2005
VENUE: Taupo Quay between Drews Avenue and Market Place.
TIME: Walkers - 8.00am Runners - 9.00am
COURSE: The course is a new one encompassing the three bridges, being the Dublin Street, Town and Motorway Bridges. As with the 5k and 10k events, the half marathon starts on Taupo Quay traveling up Somme Parade, Dublin St Bridge, Anzac Parade over and under the Town Bridge to come back up and over on the other side to travel out to Putiki. From there we go under and back up the other side of Motorway Bridge across down and under following right through along Moutoa Quay to either start lap two or to finish. There will also be a two persons teams race with the change over at lap finish area. Race Headquarters is on Moutua Quay near the Waimarie Wharf.
NUMBERS: Race numbers can be collected on:
Saturday 12th February, 4.30pm and 5.30pm from the Games Marquee, or on Sunday 13th after 7.15am from the Masters Games Headquarters area.
FACILITIES: Showers and changing facilities are available in the Union Boat Club
MEDALS: Presentations will commence as soon as possible after 1.30pm in Union Boat Club.
WALKERS: Non championship style is acceptable, ie power walking. All walkers must WALK the complete distance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Power walking is a progression of steps so taken as the Walker makes contact with the ground so that no visible (to the human eye) loss of contact occurs. From past experience we have had only a small number of people who have not conformed to this rule. We will be policing the event in 2005. Those people who do not walk in manner stated above could be liable to disqualification.
We thank our sponsors for their support:
