VENUE: Taupo Quay between Drews Avenue and Market Place.
TIME: Runners - 4.30pm Walkers - 4.40pm
COURSE: Course is one lap of ‘Around the Bridges’. Start is on Taupo Quay and course travels by Somme Parade, Dublin St Bridge, Anzac Parade, Whanganui City Bridge, Taupo Quay with a 800m loop back along Moutoa Quay. The finish is in the car park area at the ‘up river’ end of Moutoa Quay. Please see course map over. Race headquarters is on Moutoa Quay near the Wiamarie wharf.
NUMBERS: Race numbers can be collected from Race Headquarters between 2.30pm and 4.00pm on race day, or on Wednesday 9th February from Games Headquarters between 4.00pm and 5.00pm.
Please collect your numbers early to avoid the rush and/or crush.
FACILITIES: Showers and changing facilities are available at the Union Boat Club.
MEDALS: Medal and spot prize presentations will take place as soon as possible after 7.30pm in the Union Boat Club. Food and refreshments will be available in the ‘happy hours’ before presentations.
WALKERS: Walkers – non-championship style is acceptable, ie power walking. All walkers must WALK the complete distance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Power walking is a progression of steps so taken as the walker makes contact with the ground so that no visible (to the human eye) loss of contact occurs. From past experience we have had only a small number of people who have not conformed to this rule. We will be policing the event in 2005. Those people who do not walk in manner stated above could be liable to disqualification.
We thank our sponsors for their support:
