Taupo Quay between Drews Avenue and Market Place. |

Runners - 8.30am Walkers - 9.00am |
| COURSE: |
Course is two laps of ‘Round the Bridges’.
Start is on Taupo
Quay and course travels by Somme Parade, Dublin St Bridge, Anzac Parade, Whanganui
City Bridge, Taupo Quay with a 800m loop back along Moutoa
Quay, returning to Taupo Quay and
continuing
for a second lap. The finish is in the car park area at the ‘up
river’ end of Moutoa Quay. Please see course map over. Race Headquarters
os on Taupo Quay near the Waimarie wharf. Course will be marked by paint on the
road at 1km
intervals, and at the finish. |
| NUMBERS: |
Race numbers can be collected from Race Headquarters
between 6.45am
and 8.00am on race day, or on Saturday 5th February from Games Headquarters between
4.00pm and 5.00pm.
Please collect your numbers early to avoid the rush and/or crush. |
| FACILITES: |
Showers and changing facilities are available
at Union Boat Club. |
| MEDALS: |
Medal and spot prize presentations
will take place as soon as possible
after 12 noon in the Union Boat Club. Food and refreshments will be available
in the ‘happy
hours’ before presentations. |
| WALKERS: |
Walkers – non-championship
style is acceptable, ie power walking.
All walkers must WALK the complete distance. |
| IMPORTANT NOTE: |
Power walking is
a progression of steps so taken as the Walker makes
contact with the ground so that no visible (to the
human eye) loss of contact occurs. From past experience
we have had only a small number
of people who have not conformed to this rule. We will be policing the event
in 2005.
Those
people who do not walk in manner stated above could be liable to disqualification.
